The Cranberry Coffeehouse presents one of America's top traditional Irish flute and whistle players, Shannon Heaton, in concert with Keith Murphy, a Newfoundland-native guitarist and songwriter from the dance band, "Nightingale". The concert will take place at 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 19, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton. All ages are welcome, and snacks and beverages will be available. The Cranberry Coffeehouse has been a fixture in the musical life of Binghamton for almost 50 years. Local musicians, storytellers and performers of all skill levels are invited to share their talents during the middle set.

Boston-based Irish flute player and singer Shannon Heaton (www.shannonheatonmusic.com) has been heralded as one of North America’s finest traditional musicians. A warm and entertaining performer, Heaton excels at making Irish music fresh and accessible to a wide variety of audiences. With her appealing mix of instrumentals and heartfelt ballads, she offers world class music with Irish roots and universal appeal.

For this concert, Heaton teams up with Newfoundland native Keith Murphy (www.blackislemusic.com), whose guitar playing and singing wells from traditions in Ireland, Eastern Canada, Quebec, and his adopted home of Vermont. His rhythmic guitar playing brings new shape to old music. And his intimate style of traditional singing in English and French infuses ballads with a powerful immediacy.
